Small world play is one of those quiet superpowers of early childhood. A child with a wooden farm set, a handful of animals, and ten minutes to themselves will build entire narratives — who lives where, what happened yesterday, what's coming next. It's imaginative play, language development, and storytelling all happening at once, without anyone noticing it's educational.
Our small worlds collection brings together some of the most beautifully made miniature play sets available in the UK: wooden farm sets, dinosaur worlds, fairy gardens, forest scenes, ocean sets, town and village pieces, and more. We stock small world toys from PlanToys, Tender Leaf Toys, Bigjigs, Orange Tree Toys, and Melissa & Doug — brands we trust for their quality, eco credentials, and the kind of craftsmanship that makes small world pieces genuinely collectable.
These are toys for children from around 18 months upward, though honestly the upper age limit is flexible — plenty of six and seven year olds build elaborate small worlds and aren't done yet. They make exceptional birthday gifts and Christmas gifts for children who love imaginative and open-ended play, and they're the kind of thing that gets added to over time, piece by piece.
Plastic-free where possible, sustainably made throughout. Browse the collection and find a world worth building.
