Living in a world consumed by fast fashion and mass production, Edith & Blanche has chosen to focus on community, customers and caring for the planet through small-batch and on-demand production.
What does small-batch and on-demand mean?
Small-batch production means that a limited number is produced, which helps to reduce waste and allows for a higher quality to be made.
On-demand means that the items produced are from the demand of customers, creating the more likely scenario of all items being bought.
Benefits of small-batch and on-demand production
Within the fashion industry overproduction is a constant issue, which often results in stock being heavily discounted, put in storage for years or worst case sent to landfill. By producing in smaller batches and only filling up when there is a demand for it, the waste of excess stock is significantly reduced and the entire production becomes much more intentional.
When thousands of products are produced, it is easy for quality to be less prioritised, small-batch production allows the process to stay more hands on, prioritising attention to detail, and ensuring the piece's main function is for childhood exploration and play.
Small-batch and on-demand production allows more flexibility and keep focus on the need of the customer, whether that includes bringing back a best selling print, adjusting sizing or creating pieces that are more suitable for play.
