Book of the Month: Busy Chinese New Year

Busy Chinese New Year

In Busy Chinese New Year, children can have lots of fun pulling, pushing and turning the mechanisms. Join in with the celebrations as the Lion and Dragon dance, enjoy a family banquet and watch the spectacular fireworks.

Children will love playing with this bright and colourful board book with lots to spot, a gentle rhyme and wonderful illustrations by Ilaria Falorsi.

Chinese New Year

Review

With Chinese New Year coming up this month, we thought Busy Chinese New Year would be the perfect book to add to Felix's (16 months) collection. This short board book is brightly and beautifully illustrated and was a perfect book to play eye spy with. The pull out tabs were easy for Felix to manage. He especially loved the fireworks at the end where he was able to push them up and make exploding noises. My only negative is that he was somehow able to pull one of the tabs too hard and it separated the board book page open. We were able to easily tape it back together with double sided tape. Originally I was hoping more for a book that taught a little bit of the history or explained some of the traditions about Chinese New Year. This is not that book. It is very light on text, which in hindsight was better for Felix has he really enjoyed interacting with it.
